It is quite easy to associate anyone’s Philippine travel with visions of the sun, sea, and sand.  Imagine, palm trees leaning towards the sea over talcum-powder fine white sand, underwater adventure, fiestas, and the happy faces of party-lovers.

Numerous beach resorts to choose from

The Philippines, being an archipelago, boasts of some of the longest coastlines in the world –almost twice as that of the United State’s.  Whatever your interests are, be it snorkelling, scuba-diving, surf boarding, or simply to enjoy the pristine white sand beaches and watch the magnificent sunset, Philippine travel affords you a lot of destinations from among the 7,100 islands and islets.

From the beyond the northernmost tip of Luzon, you get the charm and rustic beauty of Batanes Islands.  You can find one of the best surf boarding spots in Ilocos, and Pangasinan boasts of its Hundred Islands.  In Metro Manila, you get to soak yourself with the world-famous sunset by Manila Bay.  In Central Luzon, you have Subic Bay and its natural harbour.

We need not tell you about the much-acclaimed beauty of Boracay, or the white sands, waterfalls, and hot springs of Camiguin.  If its world-class surfing you need, the world’s best surf boarders have always considered Cloud 9 in Siargao Island in Mindanao one of the best there is.  Further south, your Philippine travel should not miss Pearl Farm in Davao.

Palawan: The Last Frontier

Considered one of the jewels of Southeast Asia, Palawan is one of the most underdeveloped most rustic provinces in the Philippines.  This archipelagic province is one of the best destinations for anyone’s Philippine travel for both foreigners and locals alike.

1. Tubattaha Reef Marine Park

The world renowned Tubattaha Reef is a Unesco World Heritage site.  Scuba diving here is like finding paradise underwater with its thousands of species of flora and fauna.  Imagine manta rays, hammerhead sharks, hawksbill sea turtles, giant jacks (uh, it’s a protected area—before you salivate with the thought and bring out your fishing tackle.  Just look, don’t touch.  Also, be sure to check with your travel agency before planning on this leg of your trip as reefs are open for tourism for only three months in a year.

You sure would have the best of you Philippine travel if you include this destination to your trip.  Palawan is a nature-lover’s paradise with its marine sanctuary, virgin rainforests, and magnificent mountains.

2. Subterranean River National Park

Another Unesco World Heritage site, this underground river in Puerto Princesa features an underground limestone landscape.  Getting swallowed by the total darkness could be quite an experience.  A paddle to this underground wonder is mostly done in a group of 9 people including the professional tour guide.  When paddling inside the cave, try asking everyone to turn off their torches and you will be overwhelmed with the pitch black darkness you would lose your sense of balance.

We surely recommend Palawan as a must-see destination in your Philippine travel, if you do not mind being removed from the comforts of a city life.
